Why are Women Vulnerable to Yeast Infection

You are living your life the way you want it, however did you know that you are vulnerable to Candidiasis even though you are healthy? Yes, it is true. Majority of women across the United States have high risk to this infection due to their lifestyle, a lifestyle that is full of sweetened processed foods and/or too much sex. And as a woman, you are vulnerable to yeast infection due to the following reasons.

The yeast or fungi responsible for the infection need a wet dark area to attack and multiply. Since a woman’s body has lots of contours and skin folds, it is vulnerable to Candidiasis if not well taken care of. For instance, if a woman douches her vagina too often and too rough, the fungi that live in her vagina will multiply rapidly and cause the infection.

As the influence of media grows, many women are convinced that having sex at an early age is natural. As their knowledge about sex increases, they also gain more ideas on how to protect themselves, including oral contraceptives. However, they are also blinded because these protections increase their risk level to yeast infection. Oral contraceptives disturb the natural flora in the vagina at the same time accelerate the production of Candida Albicans, yeast responsible for Candidiasis.

Other than the birth control pills, too much sex with multiple partners increases your chances of having yeast infection. One possible explanation is one of your sex partner maybe infected with Candidiasis and it will be pass on to you.

Unlike most men, women like to wear tight skinny jeans and G-strings. Unfortunately, this produces more moisture in the vagina which in turn, the vulnerability of women to Candidiasis is increase. The recommended underwear to prevent the development of yeast infection is cotton underwear.

Lastly, most women use feminine deodorant to refresh their vagina. However, some of these deodorants have high acidity which not only kills the bad bacteria but also the good ones. Since there is a reduction in the number of good bacteria, there is low amount of bacteria to balance out the Candida fungi.
