The Prince and the Showgirl – Fairly decent but slow moving comedy of saucy American show gal Monroe being courted by Prince Regent of Carpathia (Olivier) throughout the 1911 coronation of George V. Filmed in England, with excellent performances by Monroe and Olivier. Cast includes Marilyn Monroe, Laurence Olivier, Sybil Thorndike, Jeremy Spencer, and Richard Wattis. (117 minutes, 1957)

Inferno – American returns to New York from school in Rome to explore the gruesome death of his sibling, and finds “sinister moms” causing paranormal anarchy on both sides of Atlantic. Surreal, spellbinding shocker by Italian terror genius Argento doesn’t make much sense, but it has a lot of style. Cast includes Leigh McCloskey, Irene Marvel, Sacha Pitoeff, Daria Nicolodi, Eleonora Giorgi, Veronica Lazar, and Alida Valli. (107 minutes, 1984)

The Search – Moving drama of American cadet Clift regarding for concentration camp survivor Jandl in postwar Berlin, when the lad’s mother dejectedly searches all over the camps for him. Beautifully performed and directed. Cast includes Montgomery Clift, Ivan Jandl, Aline MacMahon, Jarmila Novotna, and Wendell Corey. (105 minutes, 1948)

Fantomas against Scotland Yard – Sardonic cliffhanger-type venture story, with Marais as superb felon involved in sports orientated adventures. Cast includes Jean Marais, Louis De Funes, Mylene Demongeot, and Henri Serre. (104 minutes, 1966)
