Garage Sealing is an Investment, but Tough Work
Admit it, you don’t treat the garage as nicely as you do any other room in your house. If you have something that you have little use for, you normally open the garage door and throw it in there. Other visits normally involve running between the car and the fridge to transfer groceries and when it comes to the summer months it is just too hot to be inside there anyway.
The garage gets very little of our attention, although we should make sure we look after it as best we can, because it is part of our valuable assets. Don’t let it get into a state of disrepair, as it will take a considerable effort to clean up. To ensure that the floor remains in pristine condition, you should consider garage sealing as an investment.
If you are considering garage sealing, you should know that this is quite an undertaking. You will need to remove everything from the room and must therefore select a dry day, when you’re not expecting rain as, almost invariably, all of your junk will have to be stored temporarily on the driveway.
It is true to say that garage sealing will help you to deal with all those problems of street residue, road salt, oil spills, concrete dust and nasty oil stains. As such, your home’s value will be elevated but remember that there are other alternatives when it comes to looking after your floors and many of them require much less effort to boot.
Before you start garage sealing, you will need to scrub the floor with concrete cleaners and degreasers, using a high-pressure hose as well. This can be backbreaking work as you may have to treat some areas several times before you are satisfied.
As you prepare your room, allow at least one day before you actually start garage sealing. This will enable you to ensure that you get rid of all those stubborn stains and allow the area to dry adequately before starting.
Remember that during the process of garage sealing, if you’re not careful the paint will actually stain all other surfaces that you come up against. Therefore, start from the back of the room and work forward and be particularly careful when it comes to the walls and the threshold to the driveway where you should have clean edges at all times.
Don’t underestimate how difficult the job of garage sealing can be, especially if you are not as robust as you used to be! Try putting in place absorbent pads beneath all the vehicles to stop any stains or fluids reaching the floor in the first place. These pads will make your job a lot easier.
