Therefore, it’s better to prevent hemorrhoids than it is to cure them, if at all possible.

There are a several tips in order to avoid hemorrhoids. First, avoid constipation by eating more fiber. Take in foods such as whole-grain breads and cereals, raw and dried fruits, raw vegetables and beans. Minimize consuming low- or no-fiber foods, such as ice creams, soft drinks, white bread, cheese, and red meat.

It is very important to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. Avoid the risk of having dehydration, which can be turn to constipation, by minimizing liquids that contain caffeine (like coffee) and alcohol.

It is a good to practice healthy bowel habits like going to the comfort room immediately when you feel the urge to, avoid straining to pass bowels. Give yourself time to allow things happen in their own natural course. Do not hold your breath as you pass stools.

Modification of daily activities is also advised. Avoid prolonged sitting or standing, instead take a few short walks. Lifting heavy objects can also be a factor, so when lifting heavy objects, exhale as you lift but don’t hold your breath. For pregnant women, sleeping on your side will reduce the pressure on the blood vessels in your pelvis thus reducing the risk of hemorrhoids.

If you are a woman and have painful stools when you’re menstruating, make sure you take in additional fiber and fluids for several days prior to the start of your period. Don’t wear tight clothing, especially underwear, because tight clothes can encourage poor muscle tone in the anal region and can be irritating, which can promote the growth of some rights. In some cases, people with hemorrhoids have reported that it’s more comfortable to go without wearing underwear, or to wear underwear that’s lightweight.

Fluids given off by the intestinal tract may have irritants that may add to the fissures associated with hemorrhoids.
